My 2015 Commitments: August Check-In

Today a new month begins and it is time to go through my 2015 August Check-in with you and assess my progress. It’s all about accountability.
I don’t know if it had to do with the CrossFit Games, but July passed and I did not notice it. I did not do much and I thought it would help me have longer days. It could not be further from the truth though.
Anyways, let me share with you where I stand with my commitments/resolutions for this year so far.
Invest in my health
I am not going to lie to you: I do not know where I am with this one. I took a total break throughout July and I have no clue whether I have progressed or not.
Probably because I am not moving that much, simple things like walking have become a miserable experience to me. Maybe I should have fought through pain? Maybe it is OK this way? I do not know it myself. I just know that I had a hard time when I went downtown to pick up my glasses. Doctor’s recommendation: take it easy. Should I take it even easier?!?
August is another month and the idea is getting back to a routine of physical activities. Being stuck inside the house day in and day out is not good. Neither for the body or the mind. Summer over here does not help me either. We had pretty much one week of truly nice weather, but it seems to be gone for good. Even when we have some sun it feels more like spring.
When it comes to the diet things get harder. I am still struggling on how to even start. It is a mix of being a can’t cook and not being sure how much I should be eating. It is the first time in years I am in active. How much is too much and too little?
Anyhow, this does not mean I am giving up. I just need more time to figure something out myself. I simply do not want to lift and shift previous plans I followed throughout the years. Not that they were bad, but I want something to call “mine”.

Keep on organizing
At least one thing makes me proud of myself and it is how I am becoming more and more organized. The only reason I have not lost total hope about my cooking is because of my progress with organization. If I can become this tidy, I can do anything I set my mind to!
We are getting rid of a lot of clutter and selling some stuff we can live without such as my Xbox 360 steering wheel and my Guitar Hero II guitar and game.
And the best part is what I declutter, clean and organize stays this way. Whether it is the living room or my closet (with my clothes now arranged by color).
My “mobile” office on my RASKOG is proving to be quite handy. In the beginning it might have sounded like a crazy idea, but it works like a charm. Having everything in one place I can move around with me is just awesome. Great for productivity and a time-saver. Don’t believe me? Give it a try!
Learn more and more
What can I say about this one… I have been reading like in my good old days. In fact, when I was little, I used to spent most my summer vacation behind books. It feels nostalgic. I have been hunting for free ebooks on Amazon. Sometimes there are good finds, other times not so much. But they keep me busy.
I also finally made time for David Allen‘s Get Things Done. I have been wanting to read it since it was first launched, but I am glad I got it just after the new edition’s release. I see processes in front of me (no, I do not “see dead people”). However, I needed a method to implement them in my private life as well. I am still testing things here and there, but I am satisfied with the way they are so far.
I got myself reading glasses too and it helps with my reading. My sight is not what it used to be and my hopes that it could have something surgery would fix went down the drain. But on the positive side: new glasses, lots of reading and great learning.
Remember Abby’s Building a Framework? Did you know they are adding more material to it? Those who have the Master Package, like me, got recently a new video. If you have not got yours yet, you do not know what you are missing. I mean it!
