How To Be More Successful Without Losing Your Soul

It’s possible to be more successful without losing your soul. Learn these realistic tips that will blow your mind and help you change your approach.
We all want to be successful in our own way. Whether it’s financial freedom, retirement at a certain age, or a particular lifestyle, we have a vision of what we want for ourselves.
All too often people attribute their lack of success to there not being enough hours in a day.
We believe the only way to achieve our dreams is to work around the clock.
There’s no denying it – every goal worth achieving takes hard work, dedication, and patience. But self-actualization should not come at the cost of who you are.
How many people gave up their dreams because they feared they couldn’t combine them with raising a family?
It may not be obvious, but I’m here to tell you that it is possible to be more successful without losing your soul.
And I’ll show you exactly what you need to do to get started.
Finding balance for success
We’ve already talked about the relationship between goals and success.
Unless we know where we’re going, we can’t get anywhere.
So if you haven’t done it yet, set meaningful goals for yourself before taking any other step.
Once you have mindfully chosen your goals, you’ll have to leave your comfort zone to get things done.
But how can you balance your current responsibilities with the new ones AND still have a life you enjoy living?
It makes no sense to work your back off to achieve something but not be able to enjoy it afterward.
The solution is to balance. To live a meaningful and driven life, you must manage your time and investments to avoid unnecessary frustrations as you progress.
Success without losing your soul
A job position, a house, or a car don’t make someone successful.
It’s the feeling of accomplishment and the lifestyle they provide.
That’s why it makes no sense to “kill” yourself achieving them. You want to be able to enjoy them fully once they become yours.
For that you need to:
- have a plan
- be prepared
- be flexible
Have a plan
With your goal in mind, define your next steps:
- What’s the due date?
- What needs to happen?
- How you’ll make it happen?
- What do you have to do?
- Who will be with you?
- What are your milestones?
Choose a tool to keep track of your progress.
My favorite ones are:
- Evernote*
- Trello*
- Paper planners (Erin Condren* has a planner for all tastes and preferences)
Pick one, create your plan, and got for it.

I don’t want to be a party-pooper, but things won’t always go according to plan.
My last vacation was a great example of that.
Yet, it doesn’t mean you can’t make it.
Have a “contingency” plan if things go wrong.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a plan B, C, or any other letter of the alphabet.
You may never need your spare tire, but you still keep it in the trunk of your car, don’t you?
By being prepared, you give yourself room to adapt your original plan whenever necessary without the cost of your success.
Which leads us to our next step…

Stubbornness can get in the way of achieving your goal and makes you less adaptable when there are setbacks.
Your plan is a means. What truly matters is the end result.
Don’t get so stuck with the form that you forget the content.
Both, together, are going to guide you to the desired outcome.
If you feel that a different approach can help you out, why not giving it a try?
There’s absolutely no need to sweat about that.
Flexibility is also great to boost your productivity.
Take it as a win-win situation.
Feeling successful
Your soul is the essence of who you are. It’s your values and everything else that matters the most to you.
Success at the compromise of your soul isn’t worth it.
What’s the fun of:
- having a top job when it doesn’t allow you to spend time with your family?
- having a huge house if you lost contact with your friends and those you’d like to invite over?
- driving a supercar out of boredom because you don’t know what else to do with your time?
Dream big! Work to achieve the success you deserve for your work and dedication. But prioritize your soul and your success.
By using the steps of this post, you will avoid losing your soul in the process of attaining success.
