Hidden Treasures of the Fit Life

Hidden Treasures of the Fit Life

No matter what your reasons were when you started your fit journey. I am sure that as time passed you also discovered the hidden treasures of the fit life.

When this blog was initially published, I was joining a link party. Their prompts were all amazing and picking one was never easy. Still, I decided to write about  some of the unexpected benefits of a healthy lifestyle I discovered as I progressed.

I am not going to lie to you, for me it all started because I wanted to “look good naked” (if you know what I mean…). All I wanted was to get rid of the fat that had taken over my body and feel proud of my body the same way I was proud of myself.

The first move back was done in 2010, but only in 2012 that I made the decision of stopping on that path for good, no matter what. I started following the transformation plan from Kris Gethin‘s book Body By Design and months later, I began my very first contest preparation. It was between the two that I was diagnosed with brain tumor and decided for the sake of postponing (the now upcoming) surgery, I had to take my new lifestyle seriously.

After a lot of hard work, I started seeing the extra kilos melt away. The very first side effect of it was the confidence boost it gave me. Back when I began my fit journey, I had people close to me making jokes and telling me how I would never get there etc. Slowly, I was reaching my objectives while the same people had not made any progress in whatever they wanted for themselves.

Another noticeable improvement in my life was the quality of my sleep. I am not the kind of person who wakes easily during the night and I am not a morning person, however falling asleep has always been incredibly hard for me. Thanks to regular exercising, not only my head, but my body was also tired. The inclusion of magnesium and zinc in my supplementation contributed to the quality of my sleep (among other things).

At first, I only followed plans put together for me or instructions I found in magazines or the internet. As time passed, I started to understand my body better and how it reacted to different exercises and foods. Instead of being passive, I decided to take the driver’s seat and make choices myself. There is still so much I need to learn, but in the process I am acquiring knowledge that is solidifying the importance of the lifestyle I chose.

Last by not least, the people I have met through out the last years have played an incredible role in my life. Some are real stars like Kris Gethin himself and the Miss Bikini Olympia 2012, Nathalia Melo. Others are the fighters we meet every day at the gym, box or on the track. Each of them overcoming their own obstacles to achieve their dreams.
