Here we are again…
Behold! The time of the year when we reevaluate the past 12 months and start to make plans for the next ones has arrive. Apparently, looking for ways to make money and lose weight are the most searched topics on Google the past weeks. Surprised anyone? Not really, I guess.
Every year I mention it and it is the truth: I am not for resolutions. I have this tendency of associating them with not-lasting plans, so I choose to use the word Commitments instead.
For 2014, the plan was simple and despite of the ups and downs that happened throughout the year, I know I accomplish what I could.
The first point was Progressing in my switch to Figure. Even though I still want to build muscle mass and get rid of this skinny-fat look of mine, competing has become less and less important to me as time passed. I am not saying that I will never do it again, but being realistic, I have no clue when I will have the chance to go on stage again. My health and well-being are my priority at the moment.
Secondly, there was Investing in my professional career. This got an interesting turn in 2014. Because of the growth of my page (this new layout was released in August, 2014) and the need that I felt of prioritizing my health, I decided to start studying to become a Personal Trainer. First, I attended the Physical Coaching of the Physical Coaching Academy, and now I am half way of the course to the NASM Personal Trainer Certification. It is not always easy to combine an over demanding job, plus internship, training, classes and studies (mainly with my present health condition); however I am working hard and I am looking forward being able to help others with the knowledge that I am acquiring in addition to my own experience.
Lastly, come the point in which I consider the most successful of all in 2014 Living a healthy life. I am not going to brag that I ate clean every single day of the year, however, I did not lose sight of the goal and kept on learning about my body and how it reacts to the environment around me. My weight was not as constant as I hoped for, but it was not bad at all.
In addition to the things I had planned, this year brought a lot of great opportunities to me. I became a Sweatpink, Move it Monday, Girls Gone Sporty and Dual Shaker ambassador. I had the chance to review The Fitness Games App and join my very first Blog Summit. I had the chance to work with the amazing Natalie Minh, Karen Devriese and Inge Van Den Broeck. More recently, I unexpectedly went to Wroclaw, in Poland, for work and I spent a week with the best colleagues one can have.
All in all, I could not be happier with 2014 and 2015 looks even brighter. I am glad to announce that since yesterday I started working on my nutrition with Alex Pauwels. In past months, I did contact various trainers but for the most different reasons, I did not have the chance to work with them. When I read that Alex was back in Belgium and was offering 1-on-1s, I felt that it was time. I got my plan yesterday after our meeting and today I am already working towards it. There is no reason to wait until January 1st when I can start working on myself right now. All I can say is that I am really glad for the choice I made. ‘Dieting’ is my nemesis with me oscillating from too little to too much without being able to figure out the mid-point. So I am glad for being able to follow a realistic meal plan that will surely help me achieve my goals.
What are my goals for 2015? These I will be sharing on my next blog. 😉
What is your retrospective of 2014? How did things turn out to you?
Keep up with the great work!
