Standing up more is beneficial to productivity. Discover why and how you can adhere it to without spending money with fancy workstations.

If you’re here, it means you’re looking for ways to become more productive.

Note that efficiency has nothing to do with being busy all the time or:

  • Working around the clock.
  • Multitasking (Eww!).
  • Having no life.

In fact, if these things describe the way you work, I’m sorry to say it, but you’re far from being productive.

The problem is that they’re considered main features of hard work and dedication.

If you look for work-life balance, you might hear you’re just slacking off.

When you schedule your day in a way you can focus on one project at a time, you aren’t flexible.

And god forbid you decide to leave the office or turn off your computer “on time”!

It’s unfortunate, but we have to deal with such misconceptions.

While you don’t have the power to set things straight for good, there are some tricks you can do to improve your work productivity for real.

The one I want to talk to you about today is standing up more.

Download this list today to get clarity about your productivity struggles so that you can solve them.

Health benefits of a standing desk

At first, it might sound like just another fad, but there’s more to it when it comes to the benefits of a stand-up desk.

Studies show that even when you do some physical activity, sitting for extended periods of time is harmful to your health.

According to a recent study, too much sitting is associated with an increased risk of:

  • colon cancer
  • endometrial cancer
  • lung cancer

And let’s not mention other symptoms such as:

  • weight gain
  • lower back pain
  • fatigue
  • difficulty sleeping
  • swollen ankles

Needless to say that if your body isn’t working well, nothing else does. Including your productivity.

Standing work desk benefits

When we think about productivity, the effects of sitting all day aren’t beneficial either.

It leads to decreased social interaction, lack of focus, and productivity loss.

A study showed that call center workers who could stand for periods of time using a stand-up desk made more calls throughout the day.

In high schools, standing desks increased students’ engagement and cognitive performance

Standing up more

Some offices and even schools are slowly adopting standing desks.

They’re still isolated initiatives. However, as the health benefits of a standing desk become better known, you’ll be seeing them more frequently.

While not all of us have access to standing workstations yet, you can already find affordable alternatives for yourself.

They are workstations and portable standings against various prices.

If you don’t want to commit to the investment right away, look around the house.

Is there a piece of furniture you can use or adapt to work standing up?

Even if it takes adding some old books underneath your computer screen, it’s worth it for the sake of testing.

Have in mind that you won’t see the results of standing up more right away.

Allow your body to get accustomed to your work position.

It may even feel uncomfortable at first because of the different posture.

Yet, once you break up with the old habit, you’ll be glad about the effects.
